Former Archipelago Brewery Company
16) Former Archipelago Brewery Company
After our quick dinner at Queensway shopping centre we trudged down to the Brewery Company down Alexander Road. We passed IKEA and Anchor point along the way. The Brewery no longer stands at the place it used to be. Nonetheless, here is some history of that place.
Establishment of the Brewery Company
This brewery was first established in 1931 by a German brewing group who had the brewing equipment and the mind for exploration. It was strategically built near the Malay railway so that transportation could be convenient. The current Anchor Point was where the brewery plant stood before and the now IKEA was the canning line. Though the company was annexed by the British and sold to the Malayan Breweries Limited, it was known to be doing very well and that their administration and employee welfare was praised. The Archipelago Brewery had been revived in 2006 with the inspiration of combining the traditions from the west and the flavours of the east.We were really tired at this point, and were sorely tempted to go home.
