Queenstown Shopping Centre
15) Queenstown Shopping Centre
It was completely dark when we reached Queenstown. This was where we stopped for dinner before finishing our trail. We had two more stops to go. Upon arriving at the shopping centre, we looked around. There were lots of shops for sportswear especially.
The presence of Queensway shopping centre suggests that the Singapore government were looking into every details of the housing development plans. They were not just concerned with providing Singaporean with a roof over their head but they also had their welfare in mind - making sure that satellite towns were convenient and comfortable to stay in. With the provision of such shopping malls, it must have been a one-stop shop for their amenities and needs. Also, it would have place for recreation for many whom have not been exposed to town life. The government may have also wanted to use Queensway shopping centre as an added incentive to win Singaporeans over to the idea of staying in satellite towns.
